What is Aquatherapy?

Broadstone & Poole Physiotherapy Practice is one of very few private practices which has its own aquatherapy pool. Aquatherapy is a form of Hydrotherapy that uses exercise in water. It is a fantastic form of treatment with lots of benefits.

When we are injured sometimes it can be difficult to do things fully weight bearing. The water allows you to work your joints and muscles much earlier than you would otherwise which helps speed up your recovery.

Aquatherapy has many uses but it is particularly good for?

  • Post Hip and Knee surgery

  • Sports injuries

  • Balance and mobility issues

  • Keeping muscles strong as we age

  • Helping disabled people walk and stand

OUR POOL
The pool at Broadstone Physiotherapy is 5 x 3 metres with a depth you can safely walk around. It is heated to 35˚ C that’s 93˚ Fahrenheit (so it feels like getting into a warm bath)

UV light sterilizes the pool so that we can use less chlorine

There is level access though the normal entrance with easy steps to enter the pool or a hoist if steps are difficult.

YOUR FIRST AQUATHERAPY APPOINTMENT
We will need to assess you before you start Aquatherapy, so we are aware of your problems and any medication to plan a personal treatment program for you.

This will take place in one of our treatment rooms and will take 15 to 30 minutes depending on your condition – this time will be discussed and planned when you book your appointment.

Your treatment session in the pool will last 30 minutes.

We are also very lucky to run baby swim classes that are run by Turtle Tots.
